Dr. Jennifer Marie B. José is a board-certified Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Urogynecologist with expertise in Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, Gynecologic Laparoscopy, Robotic Gynecologic Surgery, Aesthetic Gynecology, and Sexual Medicine.
Since providing her patients with the best quality of life has always been the goal of Dr. José, she continuously furthers her medical education and training even after becoming a licensed practicing physician in 1996.
First, when Dr. José discovered that a lot of women experience problems such as urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and voiding issues during her residency training in Makati Medical Center as an obstetrician and gynecologist, she studied Urogynecology – a subspecialty of gynecology and obstetrics focused on female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery – in Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto, Canada to provide women the specific treatments they needed that are lacking in the Philippines.
Second, Dr. José studied Robotics Gynecology in Celebration Hospital, Florida, USA to provide patients with a minimally invasive solution that offers lesser pain and lesser complications with faster recovery and better reconstructive surgery as opposed to undergoing traditional gynecologic surgeries. Being one of the best in Robotics Gynecology, Dr. José was given the Trailblazer Award by the da Vinci Surgical System for being the first surgeon in the Philippines to perform 100 robotic surgeries. She is also an international proctor in Asia for the said robotic surgical system and the only doctor in ASEAN countries recognized to perform Robotic Sacrocolpopexy.
Third, Dr. José took a Master Course on Cosmetic Vaginal Surgery and Rejuvenation with the European Society of Aesthetic Gynecology in Istanbul, Turkey. This is to help women feel empowered in their womanhood and boost their confidence in terms of their sexual health.
Fourth, in Dr. José’s mission to provide holistic care related to female pelvic medicine, she studied Sexual Medicine and pioneered its practice in the Philippines. Dr. José understands that it is imperative to treat the intimacy concerns of women and take care of their psychosexual well-being to truly improve patients’ quality of life. Being in a conservative country that is the Philippines, Dr. Jennifer José founded Pelvic Health & Intimate Wellness Center to provide a safe space for women where their problems will be addressed with the best care, using the latest technologies in the field of gynecology.
In between all of this, Dr. Jennifer José continues her medical practice in Makati Medical Center, St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City, and Medical Plaza Makati. On top of that, she is now the president of the Aesthetic Gynecologic Society of the Philippines, Inc., a society of Philippine board-certified OB/GYNs that promote innovative treatments for functional and aesthetic gynecology.
With her busy schedule in her medical practice, Dr. Jennifer José finds time to share her knowledge and expertise with her peers as a speaker, lecturer, and trainer. She is recognized in her field both locally and internationally and is a constant face in gynecology and urogynecology conventions across the globe alongside distinguished physicians from different parts of the world.
Because of her tenacious desire to pursue innovation in medicine, Dr. Jennifer José is a recipient of multiple local and international awards. In spite of it all, what she truly aspires for is to let the world know that the Philippines is not left behind in terms of the advancement in medicine and to give reassurance to Filipinas that quality pelvic health care, at par with first-world countries, is available in the Philippines.
